A positive in that womens football will now generate its OWN income (I believe they also now have some separate sponsorship from LADY BRANDS).
The early reports on this omitted the financial figures but they are now revealed.
bbc:
The BBC will show the Women's Super League on network free-to-air TV for the first time in a "landmark" three-year broadcast deal.
From next season, WSL games will be shown live across the BBC and Sky in the deal worth £7m-£8m per season.
Remaining matches not selected for broadcast by the BBC or Sky will be shown live on FA Player.
The BBC will broadcast 22 live matches, with a minimum of 18 shown on BBC One or BBC Two.
Sky Sports will provide coverage of up to 44 matches screened across the Main Event, Premier League and Sky Sports Football channels.
The agreements with both broadcasters will run until the summer of 2024.

Is it mostly women who go to watch women's football? If so, would you need to go in drag to fool and evade dem Babylon? The hooliganism could be LITERALLY 'handbags'.

This could be a great opportunity for the resurgence of football hooliganism. It would take a full season for the old bill to cotton on and get organised to stop it.

Okay if this is getting more publicity then so be it. There are far more offensive things being shoved in our faces. You can take it or leave it.
If there is any compromise however, can women stick to commentating on women’s football as I find their voices totally wrong in the men’s game.

Football, or soccer as they call it stateside, is the most played women’s team game in the USA. Has been for some years.

Gregan it never was just for them until the FA decided to.ban women from.playimg at the level.they had been allowed to play.at before.

So many girls playing football, the talent pool has increased massively with lot of girls teams now playing in boys leagues. With money and more pro teams in will increase the standard every year.
You also have boys growing up now not thinking its odd that girls play football or it is just for them.

Exactly Rios. For years birds who wanted to do sport could play shit sports like netball. How can something that encourages young women to get fit and get into sport a bad thing?

You know what, that just changed my mind completely. I still won't watch it, but you're right, if it inspires more girls to take up sport or even just watch it, then its a good thing.

I could repeat everything already said above, but whats the point.
The fact very very few people want to watch it says it all.
The standard is appalling, its somewhere between U14 and U15 level for boys/mens football.
Is there a clamour to televise their level of football - no, and it doesn't take Einstein to see why.
Some dispute as to where the funding is coming from but if its from our licence fee someone really does need investigating, and its yet another nail in the coffin of the BBC.
If the Beeb really is funding this (from our money) why dont they use it to fund reductions for the elderly.

They will need to be careful with this.
Much of the hype about women's football comes from Sky. You bring women's football to the terrestrial masses and there suddenly could be a realisation from the masses how poor quality it is.
I mean that complete respect too.

I'm constantly surprised at the venom and mysogny in a lot of responses to women's sport.
Perhaps I shouldn't be.
I just don't get why some of you are so negative about it when it will have little or no effect on your lives.

Ski Sunday would be brilliant compared to tolerating a load of unprofessional chubby women playing very low standard football moaning that they should get paid as much as the men do.

It would be absolutely perfect for us if we got relegated the season a big tv deal finally got signed!
I don’t mind this deal - I think you have to be careful as a company these days falling into the trap of just thinking constant exposure to a brand will make people buy into it, especially when it comes to using tv as well as people have far too many other alternatives now (I used to watch ski Sunday when that was on, not because I cared about winter sports but because there was nothing else on and it was still a sport of sorts - now I’d just watch something else). I think it’s naive to have a ‘if we build it, they will come’ approach(remember the tv deal for league football that died on its arse in the late 90s) it still needs to be enjoyable.
But my daughter loves playing football and it’s be good for her to be able to watch it if she wants to. And the good news for tv audiences is everyone is now used to watching games on tv with no fans so it won’t look any different

Initially all sports broadcasts are purchased as a bit of a gamble. You can research anticipated demand but it's still a risk. Then you have a combination of audience figures and sponsorship opportunities (not for the BBC though) to make an informed business decision as to whether to continue or not.
It doesn't need to be hugely popular to be worth showing, just not a big loss-maker.
If it's as shit as you all expect, nobody will watch it and it will be discontinued so don't worry about it.
